Eye Witness 4: 1st Cadet Tony Paddington of the US Navy
I was part of the landing crew on the base. We lost some men so am I as interested as you are in figuring this thing out. I remember that the vessel was very close to the ground and my squad leader had us in positions when it appeared out of nowhere that the ship caught on fire! It was less than a minute and the whole thing was completely up in smoke. As it was approaching, however, I noticed that there seemed to be something flapping on the rear of the vessel. It was almost as if there was a hole or something and the wind kept opening and shutting that hole. I don't know, it could have been nothing.
